Intersectional justice is how we dismantle systems of oppression

Intersectional justice recognizes that race, gender, class, ability, and other factors shape how people experience oppression and privilege. It aims to dismantle the very systems – social, political, legal, and economic – that perpetuate these imbalances, focusing particularly on the compounded forms of discrimination and exclusion faced by women, girls, and gender-diverse people from marginalized communities. It recognizes that a single human body, a single community, or a single land doesn’t experience just one type of injustice, but many intersecting forms of injustice.

Traditional approaches to gender justice often fail to adequately address these intersecting oppressions, resulting in gaps in legal protections and systemic barriers to access to justice and equality.

Women’s Link incorporates a gender perspective and intersectional analysis into human rights law. Extending beyond traditional court settings, we utilize litigation and other legal procedures to fortify the human rights framework, ignite public discourse, and support social movements aimed at reshaping society and securing the rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse people.
